Multiple limit cycles for predator-prey models.

چکیده
We construct a Gause-type predator-prey model with concave prey isocline and (at least) two limit cycles. This serves as a counter-example to the global stability criterion of Hsu [Math. Biosci. 39:1-10 (1978)].

Stability analysis of a fractional order prey-predator system with nonmonotonic functional response
In this paper, we introduce fractional order of a planar fractional prey-predator system with a nonmonotonic functional response and anti-predator behaviour such that the adult preys can attack vulnerable predators. We analyze the existence and stability of all possible equilibria. Numerical simulations reveal that anti-predator behaviour not only makes the coexistence of the prey and predator ...
متن کاملUniqueness of Limit Cycles in Cause-Type Models of Predator-Prey Systems
This paper deals with the question of uniqueness of limit cycles in predator-prey systems of Gause type. By utilizing several transformations, these systems are reduced to a generalized Lienard system as discussed by Cherkas and Zhilevich and by Zhang. As a consequence, criteria for the uniqueness of limit cycles are derived, which include results of Cheng and is related to results in Liou and ...
متن کاملCoevolution can reverse predator-prey cycles.
A hallmark of Lotka-Volterra models, and other ecological models of predator-prey interactions, is that in predator-prey cycles, peaks in prey abundance precede peaks in predator abundance. Such models typically assume that species life history traits are fixed over ecologically relevant time scales. However, the coevolution of predator and prey traits has been shown to alter the community dyna...
متن کاملPredation, competition, and nutrient recycling: a stoichiometric approach with multiple nutrients.
A model for two competing prey species and one predator is formulated in which three essential nutrients can limit growth of all populations. Prey take up dissolved nutrients and predators ingest prey, assimilating a portion of ingested nutrients and recycling or respiring the balance. For all species, the nutrient contents of individuals vary and growth is coupled to increasing content of the ...
متن کاملNoise-controlled relaxation oscillations in ratio-dependent predator–prey models
A class of (N+1)-species ratio-dependent predator–prey stochastic models, which consists of one predator population and N prey populations (or N subpopulations of a prey metapopulation), is considered. The influence of a fluctuating environment on the carrying capacities of prey populations is modeled as a dichotomous noise. The study is a follow-up of a previous investigation of the above clas...
